Hurricane/Flood FLOYD
On Friday September 17, 1999 Trenton residents awoke
with Trent River overflowing into the streets toward Brock millpond and that
afternoon almost the entire town was inundated. An aerial view shows the extent of
flooding as captured by Charles Buchanan of
the kinston free press. Water was approximately 36” higher than the
previous high water mark set in 1908.
Local damage was sustained to homes, crops, and livestock.
